Calaveras Healthy Impact Product Solutions (CHIPS) is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit California corporation based in Amador and Calaveras Counties.
We perform a variety of work, including forest and meadow restoration, watershed stewardship, cultural site work, fire-safe fuel reduction, and fuel break construction in the wildland-urban interface.
We currently work under agreements and contracts with the Amador Firesafe Council, the Stanislaus National Forest, the El Dorado National Forest and numerous private landowners.
CHIPS has purchased a former lumber mill site in Wilseyville. In partnership with Phoenix Energy Company, we are in the advanced planning stages of constructing a 3 megawatt gasification facility to provide electricity, heat, jobs, and biochar. The energy plant is scheduled to go online in 2016.
What is Biomass Energy?
For the past 10 years we have developed a project that will reduce fire danger in local forests by cleanly converting forest slash, brush and overgrowth into energy that is sold to PG&E while generating revenue generating byproducts, Biochar, Syngas, Bio-oil, & more.
